Innovating Children's Services

Sector Led Improvement involves improving both the quality and delivery of children’s services across the sector, by focusing on staff and service development. All of the children’s services in our region are working together to achieve this. The Yorkshire and the Humber region includes 15 local authorities: Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Doncaster, East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston Upon Hull, Kirklees, Leeds, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, Rotherham, Sheffield, Wakefield and York.

There is a strong consensus amongst children’s services that outcomes for children, young people and their families need to be improved, and that this is achieved by working together by sharing learnings and developing best practice. With this in mind, we had to create a platfrom for SLI that would bring together various teams and allow them to share their work and knowledge with ease.

We built a modern and accessible website which features a live news feed with articles, updates and social media posts and a bookmark system for saving selected posts. We also built a calendar system for SLI events and meetings across the regions.

One of the unique aspects of this project was building a community space with the ability to create ‘Rooms’ and ‘Boards’ to chat with team members, share updates and files that are synced to the library.
